Hey Everyone!! My name is Colt Tryon. I first started crocheting in the year of 2016, from my Mother-In-Law. After that, I taught myself how to read crochet patterns, than I ventured in teaching myself more advanced stitches. In the middle of 2017, is the year I started venturing into the world of designing and haven’t looked back since. It’s so much fun and rewarding, to bring to designs based from my memories.
I am a proud father to 4-Fur babies. All our babies have adopted and they each have there own different personalities. My husband and I, got married in 2015 and have been blessed to have him in my life. We have been married for 7 sevens and known each for 9 years. He is super supportive of yarning journey and yarn hoarding. He is my pusher to help me out and push me more out of comfort zone.
I am sorry that I have been silent for a few months here. Trying my hardest to figure where I have been wanting to go. Like honestly, wondering if I want to continue to crochet or just let it go.
When I first started, I feel deeply in love, like head over heels. Constantly teaching myself, new stitches, even going into the advanced stitches. I even taught myself how to read patterns, even the things to look for and how to write patterns. That is literally, why it has been extremely hard, to want to give it all up together.
I am telling y’all, that is literally not the case. After, putting myself out there and working with so many different yarn companies, I can’t just walk away. With that, I have so many designs to write and bring out of time out to complete.
In July, I registered to retake my CNA course again and so that I can reinstate. I am literally excited for this next step in my journey and taking care of patients again. I am one step closer to accomplishing this dream and achieve this goal. I have submitted everything need to the board, now I just play the waiting game. I can remember ever since I was a kid, that I wanted to do was to take care of others. Its a sense of pride and joy, that make me happy. That is why I decided to bring myself into the crochet community. To create art in a whole new form, by helping others bring out their creative side and to show the world what you create on a whole different canvas, with just a piece of fiber and a hook.
So, with that being said, I am here to stay and keep doing what I love the most …. Crocheting with my whole heart and not stopping. It also helps me stay focused, motivated, relaxed, calm and reduces my ADHD in the full aspect of my being.
In other news, why I have been wanting to step away, is literally in my own mind, because I have told myself in my own mind, that what I am doing isn’t good enough or even worthy enough to be good. But I and I mean I, is 100% good enough. Just need these horrible thoughts to quit torching my mind with horrible parasites. Now, going to be bringing in all good everything vibes into my mind and keep doing what I love the most and sharing my creativity with others, that find it special.
Also, I have considered stop letting people test my designs, because others have ruined that for me. But, like why you may ask? Because, I have been ghosted numerous times, to where I haven’t and still haven’t heard anything. All they wanted was my design.
THAT STOPS NOW AND GOING TO STOP. I am over it. My husband doesn’t quite understand the whole part about the testing process. Even, when I literally try to explain it to him. Still is like, huh or is like ‘Whatever I am getting cheese fries.’
Explaining the testing process to my husband:
“It’s where they get a chance to create my idea, but while giving me feedback and finding errors within the pattern. Even looking for things that don’t make sense or need to be rewritten. Also looking for grammatical errors and mathematical errors. Making sure my final measurements and yardage are about the same. FINISHING THE TEST IN THE GIVEN AMOUNT OF TIME, IF NOT THAN COMMUNICATING TO ME FOR EXTENSION. Also, when they have completed the pattern providing me with good quality photos and their notes, so the pattern is ready for others to enjoy. At the end of the test they will receive the final copy of the pattern, from their hard work, to make this pattern great.”
My husband tells me, “it sounds they are getting a free pattern to me.”
Me, “yes they will receive that if they finish.”
My husband, “if they don’t what happens?”
Me, “than I will be sending them an invoice and will have to purchase the pattern.”
My Husband, “oh ok, but that is confusing and I am going to get something to eat.”
With that here is my boundaries with testing. Also, be linking this post in my Pattern Testing Page, so everyone understands where I am coming from now and moving forward.
I take pride while I am designing and making from the depths of heart. I want to bring pieces from my memories and to share a part of me with the world. So, this why I have been wanting to close my crocheting door and seal it shut. So many people and including my husband, don’t do it as you will be letting them control you and walk all over you. You are amazing and create beautiful pieces, so keep doing what you love and set boundaries.
Below you will find these boundaries and I stand by them.
My Testing Boundaries
1. Make sure you have the given time to complete in the given time frame, before wanting to commit.
2. Make sure you have or can get the materials to complete the task in given time frame, before wanting to commit to the task. If you are still waiting for the materials make sure you COMMUNICATE with me what is going on, just don’t LEAVE ME IN LIMBO and wondering. I know we can’t control the shipping and what will happen, just COMMUNICATE with me is all that I ask. Respect me and I will do the same.
3. Make sure you are able to give thoughtful feedback and advice, while looking for errors throughout rough draft of the pattern. Before wanting to commit to the task.
4. I know that life happens and things come that are unexpected through what we can’t control, but please let me know so we can work together.
5. If you are almost finished with the task at hand, but you don’t think you are going to finish within the time, than communicate that with me, so we can work together. Just give me the courteous and don’t just ghost me or go rogue on me.
6. When you have accepted the given task, but you feel like it ain’t just going to work out, let me know so I can make the adjustments.
These have all happened to me and I have set these boundaries for now on. I love what i do and where I want to go from here forward. This is my journey and my joy. That is the big reason why I got into designing, to share my passion with others.
Please respect me and I will do the same to you as well. Let’s continue to work with one another.

On 01/28/2015, I got to celebrate my 7th Year Anniversary, with the most amazing man in my life. That was the day we took the vow to occupy each other’s heart forever.

Good Morning Everyone. I am coming at you with a hook review and a little insight to what this hook means to me.
I received this beautiful as a gift from Lorene Eppolite of cre8tioncrochet.com This hook was also released last year in honor of Pride Month. When I saw this exquisite beauty, I told myself I would treasure it for years to come and take care of this one.
It is striped with each color of the rainbow and that of the Gay Pride Flag. The Gay Pride was created in 1978, at the request of Harvey Milk. The Gay Pride Flag is also called The LGTBQ Flag, which got its name after artist and Gay Rights Activist, Gilbert Baker. Baker chose the rainbow colors not only for the cheerful look, but as they represent the universal symbol of hope. Businesses and everyone that display the flag, show that their space is safe place for all.

Yellow represents SUNLIGHT
Green represents NATURE
Blue represents SERENITY

When I see this hook in use, it brings me to a smile and why I am happy for whom I am as a person, just being me everyday I wake up to start a new day.
When, I was younger, I just knew there was something different about me. I wasn’t happy, as I really couldn’t be officially me in whole. My father at the time in my life told my mom, “My son isn’t going to grow up to be gay!” I tried everything in my nature to not let that happen not one bit. But, that of course isn’t the case at all.
When I was 15 years old, I couldn’t resist with not coming out anymore. I told my mom that I am gay. My mom told me, “are you really sure? Do you think that you are truly gay? I would just wait a little bit longer till you are more older, than come out again. You’re also suppose to be in a relationship with a girl:” My life was crushed. I never received anything sympathy wise from my mom. So, I took back my coming out. My senior year of high school and 2 weeks before my graduation, I told my mom again, that I was gay. I got the same response from her. I even told my mom please let me tell grandma, don’t say anything to her. I was finishing up a project for my final, my grandma comes and sits besides me, proceeds to tell me this, “Colt, I love you and that will never change. You are you and that will never change. Who you love Colt or want to be with, won’t change my love for you.” After she told me all that, I was hurt and upset, because it didn’t come from me, it came from my mom.
As the years went one, I embrace myself and chose to have girlfriends rather than boyfriends, but in October of 2013, my life changed forever. I couldn’t resist MYSELF being MYSELF anymore. I took the liberty bell and rung it, coming out to everyone, to truly and officially be myself forever. My mom still tired to convince me that I wasn’t, but I finally set my mom down and explained it to her. It was hard, but was just tired of hearing why I can’t be with a girl. It’s just not me. Not who I want to spend my life with.
My mom came to it and did my relatives. My siblings and friends, embraced, supported and loved me for me. They even told I am here for you.
In 2014, I met my wonderful, caring, supportive, kind hearted and amazing best friend. On January 28, 2015 my husband and I got married. We will celebrating our 7th year together and I am blessed to have him beside me.
When this hook is in place, stitching away, these are what I am thinking about. Celebrating me and truly being me. Bring proud and happy to live my life, with a big smile and being happy with my husband.
Do you ever wonder what the Streamline Resin hooks are made of? Well straight from FURLS CROCHET WEBSITE: “Streamline Swirl hooks are first hand cast with a cosmetic-quality resin and resin-based pigments and then turned and carved into the ergonomic Streamline shape.”
The tip of these Hooks, have a needle point tip look to it. Making it easier to go into your stitches, even when you have to go into those chains (not the space). The tighter the stitch, the tip makes it easier to get into them. You really don’t need to pry it in, just a little push and won’t change the definition of the stitch. It will look the same as all the other.
The hook portion, which makes it a crochet hook, grips the yarn to a different level. That grip keeps your yarn on the hook, not loosing it up. It has a deeper traction that keeps it hook in place, not like the conventional hooks.
It has a long neck of the hook. This neck helps control the depth of your stitches. Not bringing the stitch all the way down the neck of your hook, gives your stitch a shallow look, the more you go down the neck, the deeper your stitch looks. This portion of the hook, helps with your traction and tension for your make/design. Also, if your curious, these Streamline Resin Hooks, are perfect for smaller size Tunisian Crochet projects, like gauge swatching it up.
The BASE of the hook. Which, gives it that ergonomic look and feature. This is where you get the size engraved, so you never forget the size you are using. It’s also a great resting place for your thumb, to not hurting or cramping my hand. It also controls the speed of your stitching, if you want to go slow or fast, it works with you in an ease of motion.
I can tell you this: “I literally crocheted 72 squares in four days with breaks, with my PRIDE hook.” It went super fast, with no cramping or feeling like I need a break. The project was a breeze flying off my hook.

The tip of the hook: ~0.25“
The neck of the hook: ~3”
The base of the hook: ~3.5”
From the tip – base: ~6.75”
The measurements listed above, are my measurements I took from the hook. So, you can a feel of long these hooks are and why they are my go-to.
From FURLS CROCHET WEBSITE: “The resin Streamlines are 0.2 – 0.3 oz heavier. A resin Streamline is 0.75 oz.”
Between the Wooden and Resin Streamlines has a 0.25 oz difference is in their weight, while you are holding your hook and stitching away. To me, they are medium weight, that fits perfectly into your hand.

To me: when you first pick up your Streamline Pride Hook, it has a cool feeling to it and warms up while you’re busy away placing stitches. I just love that feeling completely, makes me coming back to them. But, it’s the colors and representation of the hook, that keeps me coming back to it.
So … here is some tad bit news that is also located on the website … coming later in 2022 …. PRIDE GLITTER STREAMLINE RESIN … will be released. I am beyond excited and can’t wait. This hooded cowl is quick and easy to work up, for you to be wearing in no time. Perfect to be worn with any outfit you’re going to be sporting this WINTER season.
Winter Borealis Hooded Cowl is made with a mixture of simple stitches and a littler more intermediate stitch, that creates all the beautiful textures, you will love. Bring it to a total wow factor, for a little knit look in between. Your hood is worked right on to the cowl. You only fancy 1 seam for the hood throughout the pattern.
The color I chose for this design, inspired the name from Aurora Borealis, through the different colors that paint the sky in different shades of green. It’s just a spectacular sight to see. It’s a dream of mine and wanted to capture it in this design.

Yarn ….
I used Furls Wander Yarn. 100% premium acrylic yarn. It’s a Worsted Weight category 4. From the label — “Wander Yarn is Furls Crochet first acrylic yarn. From its airy, soft, satiny, and wide variety of colors, Wander is for fiber artist who love a touch of luxe and easy versatility.” I have literally fallen more in love with this yarn deeper, from wanting to use it!! It just adds softness and squish into my designs, packed with lots of warmth! You will about 120yds per skein of each beautiful color, to create anything through your inspiration.
I choose the colors from there Palette Pack: Lichen! Which, I can tell are all my favorite color shade of green. I used Alabaster, Conifer, Surf, Peninsula and Tundra. They all sure painted the colors of Aurora Borealis.
For this design, you will need about 500 yds in total.

Hook …
I had the opportunity of trying my first Furls Alpha Series Hook in Tulipwood. It was the first hook that brought Furls Crochet to life. It’s super lightweight and feels like a feather while you are working away. The ergonomic feature and craftsmanship, makes my hand fall all more in love through each stitch it creates. I used size I/9 (5.5mm) for this design. The wood grain was a neutral touch for this design.

Furls Lucet Fork …
Have you gotten or used one before? This is my first design that I got to include in my design. It’s super useful and easy to make your I-Cord. You can use any type of yarn with this tool to create your drawstring. It’s ergonomic, through the bottom portion to rest your thumb upon as you are creating your I-Cord. One thing to remember is pull your yarn tight to create a tight look into your I-Cord, to keep a uniform look to your cord. Plus, this tool is beneficial to make straps for garments and bags, also drawstrings for garments or bags, saves you time as well.
~ *HDC Camel Stitch* – to begin this stitch, you will locate your 3rd loop on the back side of previous stitch, it will look a little diagonal, plus it will just be slightly below the back part of the top 2 loops that form a v-shape. Once loop is located, YO, insert your hook into indicated stitch of the 3rd loop, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 3 loops on your hook. Repeat these steps as indicated in the pattern.
~ *SC Camel Stitch* – to being this stitch, you will locate your 3rd loop on the back side of the previous stitch, it will look a little diagonal, plus it will be slightly below the back part of the top 2 loops that form a v-shape. Once loop as been indicated, insert your hook into indicated 3rd loop, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through both loops on your hook. Repeat these steps as indicated in the pattern.
~ *Cross Stitch* – this stitch is created by skipping a stitch and going back into that skipped stitch, to create a cross look. To being this stitch: skip a stitch, YO, insert your hook into indicated stitch, YO, pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), YO, pull through first 2 loops, YO, pull through last 2 loops, first DC made. Going back into the skipped stitch by going behind the first DC, YO, insert your hook into indicated stitch, YO, pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), YO, pull through first 2 loops, YO, pull through the last 2 loops on your hook. You completed the stitch and Repeat as indicated in the pattern.
~ *STAR STITCH* – to begin this stitch: Ch3, insert you hook into second Ch from hook and pull up a loop, insert your hook into next Ch and pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), insert your hook into next stitch and pull up a loop, insert your hook into next stitch and pull up a loop, insert your hook into next stitch and pull up a loop (6 loops on your hook), YO and pull through all 6 loops on your hook and Ch1 to close. Making your 2nd star: insert your hook into the Ch1 and pull up a loop, insert your hook into the last leg stem of the Star and pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), insert your hook into the same stitch of the last leg of the Star and pull up a loop (4 loops on your hook), insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on your hook), insert your hook into next stitch and pull up a loop (6 loops on your hook), YO and pull through all 6 loops and Ch1 to close. Stitch Complete.
~ *Ending Star Stitch* – this stitch is performed when using up your last stitch of the row and into your Slst of previous row. To begin: you will have 1 loop on your hook, insert your hook into the Ch1, pull up a loop (2 loops on your hook), insert your your hook into the last leg stem of the previous Star and pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), insert your hook into the same stitch of the last leg of previous Star and pull up a loop (4 loops on your hook), insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop (5 loops on your hook), insert your hook in to the Slst that you joined previous row with (6 loops on your hook), pull through all 6 loops and Ch1 to close. Stitch Complete.
Pattern Notes …
Pattern is written US Crochet Terminology
Ch1’s and Ch2’s at the beginning of the row don’t count as stitches.
The cowl portion of the pattern is worked in joining the rows together with a Slst. The hood portion is worked in turning rows and then seaming the last row of the hood together.
The trim of the hood is worked in turned rows of SC’s, folding it over the drawstrings, to create an opening for the drawstrings, so you pull them tight around your head.
After completing the trim and drawstrings are in placed, you can attach pompoms or tassels to the end of your drawstrings, to add more character.
To get an accurate count on your Star Stitches and including the Ending Star Stitch, they count as 2 stitches.
Now Let’s Get Started ….
R1: To Begin, 90FHDC, after you complete 89FHDC, bring your first stitch up, YO, insert your hook into the previous Ch on your 89FHDC, without pulling up a loop, insert your hook into the first FHDC, pull up a loop through ends to join the ch’s together (3 loops on your hook), YO, pull through the 3 loops on your hook, and join to the 1st HDC, you should have a total 90FHDC. (Alternate: if you’re not comfortable with doing the FHDC, you can start by Ch91, join to your first Ch, make sure you don’t twist your Ch, Ch1 and HDC in each of the 90 ch’s).
R2: Ch1, HDC in the same stitch, *HDC Camel in each of the next stitches, until 1 stitch remains,* HDC in the last stitch. Slst to first stitch to join. (90)
R3: Ch1, SC in the same stitch, *SC Camel in each of the next stitches, until one stitch remains,* SC in the last stitch, Slst to first stitch to join. (90)

Seaming Hood ….
Turn your Cowl inside out, so that you’re on the WRONG SIDE. Take the last Row of the hood and fold it together. Pick any seam you would like (I chose to use the SC seam, for the strong hold it provides). Attach your yarn in the 1st and 84th stitch and Ch1, SC in the same stitch by going through both sides of the hood. Repeat SC across until the end (Following this sequence: 2nd and 83rd, 3rd and 82nd, 4th and 81st, etc.). You will have 2 stitches left at the end, SC through the last 2 stitches. FO. Weave in your ends and turn your cowl back inside out.
Drawstrings …
Grab your Furls Lucet Fork and holding 2 strands, make an I-Cord measuring ~42” you can watch a video tutorial HERE
If you don’t have a Lucet Fork you can make a CH measuring ~42” in length and than, in the 2nd Ch from hook Slst and in each remaining Ch.

Hood Trim ….
We will be creating a flap for the drawstring of the hood.
We will be working in turned rows to create the flap.
To Begin: Attach your yarn into the first SC where you begin creating the hood with a Slst and Ch1 and SC in the same stitch, SC in the Ch1 of 1st row of hood, SC into the SC of next row of the hood, place 2SC into each of the DC and Ch2 up the hood to the seam, place a SC into the hood seam, place 2SC into each DC and Ch2 down the hood, SC in the Ch1, SC into the SC, SC into that last SC of the 1st row of the hood, Slst into that same stitch, (95)
Hood Flap …
R1: Ch1 and turn, sk the Slst, SC into the next stitch and in each of the next stitches, (95)
R2-6: repeat R1. FO!!
Cut a long piece of yarn to sew the flap over the drawstring. When sewing the flap, you are creating a opening for the drawstring, so that part should be on the inside of the hood. To begin, lay the drawstring in the middle of the flap bring the last row to the first row of the flap (not the trim). Start sewing up the hood and down the other side of the hood, FO and weave in your ends.
Optional: you can add pompoms or tassels to the end of your drawstrings.

When, I first introduced myself to Furls Crochet, it’s been like almost 5yrs, my eyes were just completely set on this luxurious yarn. I kept telling myself over and over, you need to get yourself some and try it out.
Well …. I got the opportunity finally and I literally love it so much. But, the saddest news is that it has been discontinued, sad drop face, I know. 12/2021 last year is when Furls Crochet decided to let it go, to make more room for newer products coming. It has a sturdy feel, making it impossible to in unravel, if you’re making those market bags. With the nylon twined with the fine superwash merino, will with stand all heavy items you are carrying. But, if you are making those delicate garments, it will feel perfect against your skin, provide you warmth and you will be a show stopper.
When I wear or use what I make with this yarn, I literally get people asking me, “Did you make that?” I always respond, yes I did and I didn’t buy it. This was manufactured from my two hands, with this beautiful yarn of 50/50 fine super wash merino and nylon, making it sturdy and holds it shape, for years to come and be worn always.

I literally have found a joy and pure love for this yarn. It’s fast to work up and literally slides effortlessly through your finger like butter. Making all your creations/makes, look like you purchased them from a High Top End Store, but what they don’t know is that you made them with your own hands using this incredible Furls Crochet Z-Twist Whims Merino Yarn.

I myself, could use this yarn over and over again. Also, if you are wearing a beanie made this yarn, I can tell that it will go back to its original form, not leaving it stretched out. It has a elastic feel, that will hold to its shape over time of wearing.
I got the opportunity to design a one skein design for Furls Crochet and got to use this yarn for it. I designed a beanie in Adult Size Only in DK lightweight Mustard. This beanie is made brimless, but you can wear it with a brim by rolling up the bottom to even give it a fitted feel it or simply wear it brimless to have a more slouchy beanie.

This year is a blessing, as we get to spend this day with all our families and friends. Since last year, we just couldn’t get to make that happen. Create wonderful and keepsake memories, that you will cherish for many years. Play games, that you have been dying to play and scream at the top of lungs. Never let your kid like self slide past you, make it the best holidays.
I can tell y’all this, waking up this Christmas Day and seeing snow on the ground … just brought back memories of being a child. Even, watching the snow falling down, as it just keeps falling. Just brings me happy smiling and tears falling moments.
The reason for the tears, because this is the first Christmas season without my Grandma now being here. This was her holiday, when she wanted all her family together in one household. Cooking, baking and all her grandchildren running through the house.
When, we would wake up in the morning, Grandma would already be up and in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Grandma would be either cooking up her famous Biscuits w/ Country Sausage Gravy or big breakfast of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and toast. Always, making sure we never went without something. Then, we would open all the gifts and skip lunch, for the big dinner. But, always had sweet treats lined up on a table, out all day long. It was a day ending with a night full game playing, with Grandma slugging someone sitting either on left or right of her (mainly me), if she didn’t win.
These are the Christmas memories I will cherish of my wonderful Grandmother, I will cherish. She was a hoot of great lady.

Baking Christmas cookies and candy’s, is one that will never change from me at all. Playing board games with everyone around the table ending the Christmas night packed with laughs. Even watching the snow fall, thinking about making snow angels and snowman!!

It’s quick and easy to work up. I literally timed myself while making this one, you will have it worked up from start to finish, in 45 minutes. This is a stash buster or even a scrap yarn project, trying to use up all the yarn — you’ll want to make this one hands down.
Yea I got a question for y’all, when you do stop making pumpkins? Do you only make them from September-October or do you make them all year long? I can honestly tell you, I might not stop. But, I do have a few more I need to finish writing up and designing as well. So, yeah, I just might be making pumpkins the rest of the year, I think that will be ok.

Design
Have you ever wondered what holding 2 strands of yarn can create? This pumpkin uses double strands. It creates a bulky piece, you will fall in love. This pumpkin is constructed with using half double crochet and using a yarn under technique and using single crochet with a yarn under technique for the seam. With your double strands held together, not one will come out the same with your color scheme. You will make a rectangle, taking the 2 ends together to seam them and to form a tube. To bring more into a pumpkin shape you will cinch bottom closed first, turning inside out so your seam will be placed on the inside, stuff it and cinch your top closed. Now, comes the best part, you get shape it to form it into a pumpkin, by wrapping your yarn around 4-6 times pulling them tight to create the shape you want. You will enjoy this pumpkin.
Yarn
I want to say thank you to Furls Crochet, for sending me their Wander Yarn for this design. They sent me Thatch and Obsidian, to design this pumpkin. This yarn is 100% acrylic based yarn in worsted weight, category 4. I am telling y’all you have to try this yarn and get yourself some. It’s super soft to the touch, making you not wanting to leave your hands. It slides off your hook like butter. It also has a very nice sheen look to it as well. But, the best feature I love about this yarn and for this design, is the SQUISH factor it beholds. One thing I want to say, it does snag with your top of your hook, so really pay attention to that. You can use my Back End Hook Pull Tutorial, to help not snag your yarn. In closing, this yarn is a new love of mine. It’s affordable $5 a skein, buy 5 or more you get a Free Tote with your yarn. Again, I want to thank Furls Crochet for sending me Streamline Galaxy Solar Flare Swirl I/9 (5.5mm), for this design. The Swirl Hooks are my favorite completely. They are medium lightweight, making you soar through your projects in no time. They don’t cramp my hands, leaving me crocheting for hours. They are also my big Eye Candy, by the blending of colors, creating the Swirl. They came in 11 different color options and in 10 different sizes (G+-P). You will fall in love, like I have over the years. I have using Furls Crochet Swirl Hooks since 2017 and I won’t stop.

HDC with YU: to being this stitch, YO (as normal), insert your hook into indicated stitch, this part instead of YO you’re going to YU (here your hook will on top of your yarn and the yarn under the hook), pull up a loop (3 loops on your hook), YO (as normal) and pull through all three loops. You have completed your stitch.
SC with YU: to begin this stitch, insert your hook into indicated stitch, YU (here your hook will be on top of your yarn and the yarn under the hook), pull up a loop (2 loops on your hook), YO (as normal) and pull through both loops. You have completed your stitch.

Start by holding 2 strands and Ch21
R1: in 2nd from hook *HDC* and *HDC* in each remaining Ch. (20)
R2: Ch1 and turn, *HDC* in same stitch and *HDC* in each remaining stitch. (20)

Don’t FO here. Now we will move onto seaming up your pumpkin.
Seaming
Ch1 and turn, bring the other end up, going into both side, *SC* through each stitch (20), FO and leave a long tail ~5”. Move onto cinching bottom closed.

Cinching Bottom Closed
Thread your yarn onto your needle, weave in and out of the top of each row, finishing back into where you started, unthread your needle and pull on your tail tight to bring it together. Secure by tying a few knots. You don’t need to weave in your ends, just leave on the inside of your pumpkin

Turn pumpkin inside out (seam should be on the inside) and STUFF your pumpkin.

Cinching Top Closed
Use Double Strand cut ~ 5-6” long tail
Thread your yarn onto your needle, weave in and out of the top of each row long the top, finishing back into where you started, unthread your needle and pull on both tails to bring it together, closing the top. Secure by tying a few knots. Weave in your ends. Now, move onto to shaping your pumpkin.
Shaping your Pumpkin
With holding 2 strands together cut about 30-32” long tail
Tread your needle, start by poking your need through the bottom out through the top, warp your yarn over your pumpkin, poke needle back through the bottom out through the top, pull tight (also pull tight on the strand hanging out the bottom), warp yarn again around your pumpkin, poke through the bottom out through the top, at this point you’re going to keep warping evenly around your pumpkin in the same process, for a total of 4-6 warps, having a total of 4-6 bumps on your pumpkin.
To finish, your needle is still out the top, simply poke needle back through the top out through the bottom.
Tie a few knots to secure. Unthread needle.
Weave in your ends. Now, you can poke a stick or cinnamon stick in the top. You can also glue the stick or cinnamon stick to the top of your pumpkin, to keep it in place.

There are so many appliqué patterns out there. They are a little project you can make, with less amount of yarn. They bring amazing characteristics to any make you are making or use them in the photos you capture.

They can bring them all together. These little items are just perfect to add, rather than, using tapestry crochet. You just simply add them by sewing them on or you can even crochet them onto your projects. Me personally, I love sewing them on.
I can honestly tell you this: this project is literally perfect for both and I made it this on purpose. Sometimes … things like the just happen and they did here.

Here is a little information about Crescent Moons and why they are my favorite and why I created them:
When the Moon appears early in its first quarter or late in its last quarter, only a small arc-shaped section is visible and illuminated by the Sun.
The orientation of the crescent Moon depends on the time of day, the season, and the viewer’s location.
During evening twilight, from January through March, in all of the northern temperate latitudes (from 25° to 50° north latitude, encompassing Canada, China, all of Europe, Japan, Russia, and the United States), the changing angle of the lunar orbit with respect to the horizon orients the crescent with its points, or horns, aimed upward, displaying a benevolent smile.
For the remainder of the year, the crescent appears sideways, like an archer’s bow.
At no time of night from any location on Earth does the Moon appear to be frowning; this occurs only around midday, in full sunlight.
The year-round view from the tropics is of a smiling crescent.
Once you start, I can tell you that you won’t just stop at one moon. You will have a million moons.
Design
Halloween had been in my mind all month long. From watching all the horror movies, Halloween designs I have made and that eerie Halloween night when you can see the moon while Trick or Treating, the moon is hanging about you. I had yo captivate that feeling. To create that Crescent shape and moon like feeling, I can say it took me awhile, but settled on this one. You start with a chain, your first and last stitch are made in the actual ch’s, the stitches in between are made around the chain. Even, if you choose to make them right on your project, it will be the same sequence as not making them right on your project. I haven’t set a certain hook or yarn, because the hook or yarn will give you a small or x-large size moon. I will give you sample sizes in the hooks that I used so you get a feel.
Yarn
There is no exact yarn for this project. For the samples, I used a worsted weight 4 100% acrylic yarn, which is Red Heart Yarn Super Saver in White and Gold. It just had that more heavier feel I love to use and holds it shape, plus the colors are a wide spectrum that is endless. Feel free to use any yarn weight or type, you have on hand for these moons. Feel free to use any color from your favorite color or the yarn you have been wanting to use for a while now.

Hook
I used my absolutely favorite and best hooks in the world for this design. I used my Furls Streamline Swirl Hooks. They are a medium lightweight hook, they float through yarn like frosting a cake. They glide with the yarn like a match made in heaven. They come in 11 different color styles and 10 different sizes. They are perfect for hands, not leaving them cramping and crocheting for hours, but they are totally Eye Candy, just as much.

Uses US Crochet Terminology
Ch’s don’t as a stitch
Instead of going in the actual Ch, you’re going around the base Ch’s
The size of your moons, all depends on the size of your hook and yarn you’re using
When you get closer to the end of the Ch, simply and lightly, push the stitches up on the Ch, to have more to complete the stitch sequence.
To measure your width: you’re just measuring the treble crochet, as they are the center of the moon
To measure your length: you’re going to start at the first sc to the Slst, which are the tips of the moon
I written this pattern in 3 different sizes all by the ch’s you start with. You get a more of a curve or a straight edge
You can make these Moons as a stand alone or right onto your project
Now …. Let’s start making MOONS
1st Moon:
Start by Ch8, in 2nd Ch from hook place a SC, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place 3 DC around the Ch, place 3 TRC around the Ch, place 3 DC around the Ch, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place a SC around the Ch, Slst into the first Ch made. FO and weave in your ends.
2nd Moon:
Start by Ch8, in 2nd Ch from hook place a SC, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place 2 DC around the Ch, place 3 TRC around the Ch, place 2 DC around the Ch, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place a SC around the Ch, Slst into the first Ch made. FO and weave in your ends.
3rd Moon:
Start by Ch7, in 2nd Ch from hook place a SC, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place 2 DC around the Ch, place a TRC around the Ch, place 2 DC around Ch, place 2 HDC around the Ch, place a SC around Ch, Slst into the first Ch made. FO and weave in your ends.
Attaching Your Moon …
Figure out on your make where you would like to attach your moon at. With that, cut a long piece of yarn, thread onto your needle, tie a knot on the bottom, with your moon in given place, sew your moon in place by simply going through the BLO’S along the edge of the moon, tie a knot to secure and weave in your ends.
Attaching Moon right on ….
Figure out where you would like to attach your moon. With that being said, attach your yarn with a Slst, simply follow the steps above for the type of moon you would like to make, after your last stitch you made, Slst it down, FO and weave in your ends.
